What to Pack

Mandatory Essentials

Please do not leave these behind. A yoga mat is required for sessions and is not provided by the hotel. Non-slip footwear is essential for outdoor and on-site movement. A warm over layer and a thin personal blanket or shawl are also required — Norway in October is cooler than expected, and hotels in this region do not provide room blankets for use during sessions.

Clothing & Layers

  • Warm insulated jacket
  • Layering pieces (fleece, thermals)
  • Waterproof outer layer or rain jacket
  • Hiking boots or sturdy walking shoes
  • Hat and gloves (evenings get cold)
  • Scarf or neck warmer
  • Comfortable casual clothing for evenings
  • Thin personal blanket or shawl (for sessions and meditation)

Wellness & Practice

  • Yoga mat (required, not provided)
  • Comfortable clothing for sessions
  • Journal and pen
  • Swimwear (for the on-site spa)
  • Any personal meditation items
  • Water bottle

Travel Essentials

  • Valid passport
  • Travel insurance documentation
  • Any prescribed medication
  • Power adaptors and chargers (Type C/F plug)
  • A good book for the journey

Not Required

  • Towels (provided by the hotel)
  • Heavy work equipment (this is your time to unplug)

A note on the weather: October on the Norwegian coast can be unpredictable. Mornings may feel crisp and clear, only for rain to arrive by afternoon. Dress in layers you can add or remove, and always keep a waterproof layer close at hand.

Some of the practices we offer, including breathwork, ceremony, and deep meditative work, can bring about powerful physical and emotional responses. We ask that all participants take personal responsibility for disclosing any relevant health conditions in the Brief History section of the onboarding form. If you are unsure whether any aspect of the retreat is suitable for you, please consult your GP or medical practitioner before attending and reach out to us at retreats@thetranquillity.co.uk with any questions. October on the Norwegian west coast is cool, with average temperatures between 6°C and 11°C (43°F to 52°F). Rain is frequent, so waterproof layers are essential. The scenery during this season is stunning, with autumn colours and dramatic coastal light.
October sits beautifully within the northern lights season, and we have chosen this timing with that wonder in mind. The aurora borealis is a gift of nature and cannot be guaranteed by anyone. Should she appear, it will be one of the most extraordinary moments of your journey. Should she not, everything else about this retreat will still take your breath away. We recommend downloading an aurora forecast app such as SpaceWeatherLive to track activity during your stay.
Yes, complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and event spaces. That said, we encourage you to embrace this time as an opportunity to disconnect and be fully present in your experience.
Yes. Panorama Hotel has a wellness centre with two outdoor hot tubs, warm water pools, a cold plunge pool, steam bath, sauna, and a floating sauna on the water. All guests have complimentary access to these facilities. Additional spa treatments such as massages are available at an extra cost and can be booked directly with the hotel.
Our closing ceremony and farewell lunch on Day Five concludes at approximately 14:30. We strongly encourage all participants to book return travel for the evening of 9 October or the morning of 10 October, so that you can be fully present for our closing without any travel pressure. Bergen Airport Flesland is approximately 40 minutes by car from the hotel.
If you would like to arrive a day early or extend your stay after the retreat, you are welcome to arrange this directly with the hotel. Additional nights would be at your own expense and subject to availability. You can contact Panorama Hotel & Resort through their website.
